Watford Mencap works to enable people with learning disabilities, their families and carers to make the most of life.
This is done through:
Residential and Supported Housing – we have four homes providing 24 hour care and three houses for supported living
Children’s Services - including pre- and after-school clubs, holiday play schemes, respite and support for families.
Community Services Team – practical help is given to individuals and carers providing respite breaks, day and holiday schemes.
‘Leisure Together’ – co-ordinating and matching local volunteers to share activities and hobbies with learning disabled adults.
Advice & Advocacy – helping people to access services, ensure their rights and campaign on their behalf.
Bridge to Work – offering training to enable learning disabled people to move into supported employment. This service has recently set up the Lunch Bunch, preparing and delivering sandwiches and snacks to local businesses and companies.
Like many other Mencap societies, Watford Mencap relies on voluntary help and contributions to carry on our essential work among those who so much need our services, care and advice.
.
Although we are affiliated to National Mencap, we are not financed by them. Each year we will need to raise almost £250,000 to both maintain and develop our services.
