READ International see a world where young global citizens achieve development through the power of education.

It was founded in 2003 by a small group of students from the University of Nottingham inspired to take school resources from the UK to Tanzania and has gone from strength to strength. READ won Best New Charity of the Year in 2007 and now has 17 university based projects around the UK supported by a small central team.

To date READ have shipped 336,000 disused textbooks from the UK to Tanzania and continues to promote literacy and healthy learning environments in both Tanzania, and in the UK. Due to their unique and innovative model it costs just 50p for READ to send a textbook to Tanzania.
