Over The Wall is a very special place for children and young people affected by serious and life limiting illnesses.  It is the only residential Camp in the UK modelled after Paul Newman’s renowned The Hole in The Wall Gang Camp.  OTW gives children one glorious week of having fun, making friends, meeting new challenges and rebuilding confidence.  More importantly it is a place where they can be just kids, not kids who are sick.

Children living with serious illness have spent long periods of their lives in hospitals, away from school, facing frightening treatments and living with uncertainty.  Often, their illness has robbed them of their confidence and made them uneasy around their peers.  Camp gives them an opportunity to feel normal.  They get to hang out with other children who are all at different stages of their illness.  So they don’t have to explain bald heads, crutches, eye patches, weight-gain or any other effect of taking medication.  And that gives them something priceless: a chance to be themselves.

Our week-long activity Camps are intensively staffed with medical professionals and trained volunteers to offer a fantastic break in a safe friendly environment. We like to think that each young person who gets a chance to go Over The Wall returns with confidence to face the challenges that lie ahead
