There are about 30,000 members across the United Kingdom
There are 65-70 NACC Groups around the country, arranging educational and support meetings, publicity and fundraising. Each Group is supported by a Medical Adviser
Membership is open to people who have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s Disease, their families and friends, health professionals and anyone interested in supporting the work of the Association
NACC offers:
Information (via literature, meetings, and a telephone information line)
Support (through local Groups, NACC-in-Contact, and a Disability Benefits Project)
A ‘Can’t Wait’ Card – recognised by some major retailers – enables quicker access to toilets
The Smilie's People Network - provides information and support to families who have a child diagnosed with IBD
A Welfare Fund for people in financial difficulty as a result of these illnesses
Funds for research. Since 1984, members have raised over £3 million. More than 100 research awards have been made to hospitals and universities throughout the UK
NACC Groups support local hospitals, through donations to improve services
Membership:
Membership costs £12 to join and £10 per year thereafter. Members receive a pack of informative booklets and information about NACC, a Directory of NACC-in-Contacts, quarterly newsletters and information about their local self-help group.
