So why are we here?

Mission Statement

To share the love of God with the homeless, disadvantaged and socially isolated by providing a place of acceptance for all.

So who are we?

So far there are about 26 churches involved with the Agape project and the help they give includes volunteers, prayer support and financial support.

We currently run a drop-in centre on a Sunday afternoon between 1 and 6pm.  God has graciously given us a good working relationship with the Centre Project in Leicester (the new premises we moved into in September 2004) and through this we are blessed with being able to use their centre at the weekend.  On a Sunday we provide food, clothing, toiletries, sleeping bags and anything else we have had donated and of course friendship, support and encouragement.  The hope is that very soon we will open up on a Saturday morning too.

The project is currently run by a management committee made up of members from 3 Leicester Churches and comes under the charity status of Church in the Community Leicester but is in the process of obtaining charity status in its own right.

Agape would also not be able to be faithful in this ministry without those individual Christians and those Churches who support us financially.  We do not receive any funding for the work we do and therefore, rely on God to supply our needs through our brothers and sisters.

So what can you do to help?

Do a sponsored parachute jump or skydive to raise funds.

Do you have a few spare hours a week and a desire to help? We would like to hear from you.

You may say to yourself, I do not have any talents for anything. We would ask, Can you wash up? Can you cook a meal? Are you a good listener? Even a willingness to learn is a talent and we would be grateful for your help.

Do you feel called to help us with our finances? Our aim is that the homeless will be able to access all of our services (meals, clothes, advice, etc.) free of charge.  The gift could be just a one time thing or why not make an offering as part of your monthly/yearly giving?

If you feel called to pray for us we would like to hear from you. We especially appreciate intercessors and prayer partners.

What is a prayer partner?  We would like all of our volunteers to have someone with whom they could pray; someone to go to when things are hard; someone to share the joys with and; someone to join in agreement with for a homeless persons needs.

What is an intercessor?  Someone who regularly prays to God for us on our behalf and on the behalf of those we care for.

If you feel you could help in any way, including the above mentioned things then please email us from our contact page.

Thank you
